Big news regarding the 2009 Homebuyer Tax Credit, it has been extended until April 2010.
On November 4, 2009, Senators agreed to extend the popular tax credit for first-time homebuyers and to offer a reduced credit to some repeat buyers. The tax credit put into effect in February 2009 provides up to $8,000 to first-time homebuyers who purchased a home on or before November 30. Senators agreed to extend the existing tax credit for first-time homebuyers through the end of April and offering a reduced credit of up to $6,500 to repeat buyers who have owned their current homes for at least five years.
The tax credits would be available to homebuyers who sign sales agreements by the end of April and would have until the end of June to close on their new homes. For more information and to take advantage of this excellent opportunity contact your local real estate professional.
